au history Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Myka is the youngest of two girls. While Tracy was the pretty, popular girl, Myka was always the awkward, nerdy tomboy who preferred fencing classes over barbies and reading over pop culture. She spent a lot of her time hiding in the stacks of her father's bookstore, Bering and Sons; inappropriately named since the Berings had no sons, and Myka grew up knowing that her father would have been happier with her had she'd been born a boy. Extremely bright and driven, Myka had a knack of languages and a unbridled love of literature. She was recruited by the school and jumped at the opportunity to get out of her home town. Her first year she was roomed with Helena Wells, and the two have been best friends ever since, rooming together every single year. While she is involved in a number of clubs and she tutors, Myka is still shy and a little withdrawn, still not having exactly found her place or an idea of where she wants to go in life.
